Guy Martin will line up in pole position for Saturday’s Ulster Grand Prix Superstock race with the Lincolnshire rider putting in a late charge to top the leaderboard. The Tyco BMW rider lapped at 129.510mph to edge out long time pace setter Keith Amor by 0.307s with William Dunlop completing the front row.

With good conditions all around the Dundrod course, it was Ian Hutchinson who set the early pace on the PBM Kawasaki with his second lap speed being 126.524mph but third time around Amor, on the RigDeluge BMW went to the top of the timesheets with a lap of 129.317mph. This proved to be his fastest lap as he struggled to get a clear lap for the remainder of the session.

Just one second separated the top five at the time with Hutchinson, Dean Harrison, Lee Johnston and Martin in hot pursuit.

However, after pitting to change his rear tyre, Martin put in a lap of 129.510mph to go quickest right near the end of the session and he held on from Amor with team-mate Dunlop putting in a late charge to climb up the leaderboard.

His lap 0f 129.264mph placed him well in contention and just one second covered the top six with Hutchinson, Johnston and Michael Dunlop, another rider to put in a fast lap near the end, completing the second row.

Harrison slipped back to seventh with Peter Hickman, David Johnson and Ivan Lintin rounding out the top ten, the latter just ahead of the lead Honda of Bruce Anstey.
