Homer Racing's Hudson Kennaugh clinched the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship this afternoon at Brands Hatch, crossing the line in seventh place to take the crown by four points.

The race was eventually won by SMT Racing's Adam Jenkinson after a last lap manoeuvre on Tristan Palmer. Jenkinson had to win the race if he was to over-turn Kennaugh's twenty point championship advantage but the South African nursed home his Kawasaki to take the nine points he needed to take his first championship after claiming the South African Superbike Championship in 2004.

“It’s all a bit surreal – I guess everyone says they are lost for words, but I a really am. I didn’t sleep last night thinking about this race, but now I can have a couple of beers and a pizza and relax and begin to enjoy this title," said the rider, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the track.

“I will be back again next season to defend the title and this is one of the best moments in my career, taking in the European and South African championships, this is really the toughest of them to have to beat so many riders in so many races it is the best achievement.

"I am wet, soggy, and relieved - it was so slippery out there and I didnt want to crash - I would never have forgiven myself if I had."
