Buildbase BMW rider Jon Kirkham has started off his season with a bang, and will start tomorrow's MCE British Superbike race on the front row. Kirkham set the fourth fastest lap in qualifying this afternoon, beating the likes of Tyco Suzuki’s Josh Brookes and Samsung Honda’s Ryuichi Kiyonari.

“Brands Hatch has been good to me over the last couple of years, but the Indy circuit is not a track I particularly like, and it is nice to get it out of the way, but the sun was shining and I put the Buildbase BMW bike on the front row and I am happy as Larry," said Kirkham, speaking to Bikesportnews.com from the circuit.

“We did half a day at Donington and I slipped off and I wasn’t very happy after that. We did half a day at Snetterton and that is all I have done, and it felt like winter testing during qualifying, and we ended up on the front row and I am really chuffed. I am trying to remain positive, and stay in the same mind frame when I go out tomorrow, to see what I can do.”

The Derby native won the opening race at Brands Hatch last year, and hopes to repeat his success on Sunday, but the giant of a rider is under no estimations of how tough the race tomorrow is going to be.

“I don’t know what is going to happen tomorrow, I am not going to be cocky and say I am going to win both races because it never happens like that. We will take it if we can, but the Buildbase BMW team are an awesome team to ride for and there is no pressure on me and I am really happy, and a happy rider is a fast rider.”
