Ducati Manchester rider Kev Coghlan bagged a solid fifth place in this morning's European Superstock 1000 race at Silverstone after charging to a spirited third in the opening laps.

The young Scot, who split with the Appleyard Yamaha British Supersport team to concentrate on the Panigale, got a great start to slip into third place behind Eddie La Marra and Jeremy Guarnoni on lap one and stayed there until lap four.

Coghlan just lost the tow of the front men and was then passed by Bryan Staring andf Sylvain Barrier in quick succession but he managed to keep them in sight for the final laps to take a nice points haul. Team-mate Robbie Brown got a bad start and slipped back to 13th before clawing his way back to 11th at the flag.

La Marra, also on a Panigale, took his debut win of Guarnoni while Staring got ahead of Barrier on the line.
