We spoke to Andrea Iannone by phone at his home in Vasto. He has had an operation on his arm and knee since falling at Jerez last week-end and had this to say.

"The week-end at Jerez is best forgotten with two crashes, one on Saturday and the other on Sunday. When I fell on Saturday, I cut my knee on something sharp, probably the footrest. It's the knee that hurts most now. The cut is deep and any movements I want to make are very restricted. My arm isn't too bad though and doesn't hurt that much. I'm waiting for an e-mail from Dr. Mir who operated on me and who is drawing up a rehabilitation plan for the next few days. Our aim is to be ready for Le Mans but it won't be easy. I know I'll have to give it everything I've got. I'll be in France and we'll see how I feel when I get on the bike. At the moment I'm in a fair bit of pain but I'm optimistic. I know that the doctor who operated on me is one of the best in this field and all I want now is to get back on the track."
