Good fortune deserted Guy Martin during today’s Supersport Race 2 on the Isle of Man, and despite an intermittent misfire on his GSX-R600 Suzuki, he showed grit and determination to finish the four-lap TT race in eighth place.

Martin and team-mate Josh Brookes completed a final practice lap apiece, prior to Friday’s blue riband Senior TT after today’s second sidecar race.

Guy Martin:

“It was a strange little problem that only happened low in the rev range, but it certainly hampered our progress. I could have pulled in but thought, ‘what a lovely day to ride your bike’ and continued for the fans and sponsors. We did a lap on the Superbike and yeah… I can work with that. Let’s see how she goes on Friday.”

Philip Neill:

“A frustrating day for us as we know the potential of the GSX-R600 and a podium was not out of the question as Guy has proved successful in the past. We had a pretty faultless practice week and have now had two small technical issues in Superstock and Supersport. All that is left now is Friday’s Senior TT and we will be looking for a podium to finish the TT fortnight off on a positive.”
