Guy Martin has won Sunday's opening Superbike race at Oliver's Mount, Scarborough, the second leg of the Darran Lindsay Trophy, and with two wins from the two legs, Martin has added his name to the trophy once more. The Tyco Suzuki rider had to work a lot harder for it though this time around, a combination of a sluggish start and the form of Dean Harrison the cause.

It was Jamie Hamilton who led the field into the tight Mere Hairpin but Harrison soon took over up Quarry Hill and he led at the end of the lap from Hamilton and John McGuinness with Martin back in fourth but there was disappointment for both Michael Dunlop and Michael Pearson who retired to the pits at the end of the lap.

Second time around and Harrison's lead had crept up to 1.5s but Martin was on the move having dispatched of both McGuinness and Hamilton. Lap three and the order was still the same but Hamilton had a major moment when he overshot the Esses and although he rejoined the track in the lead, he soon dropped back.

Having reeled in Harrison, Martin hit the front on the fourth lap but the Kawasaki man kept the pressure on all the way to the flag and with both riders setting their best laps of the weekend, there was never more than a second between them. Indeed, Martin's winning margin was only 1.1s. Further back, Hamilton was clearly experiencing a few problems and McGuinness, having his first outing of the weekend, overhauled him on the fifth lap to claim the final podium spot.

Hamilton held on for fourth with Bruce Anstey on the second Padgetts Honda claiming a good fifth whilst Ian Lougher sealed sixth when he overtook Mick Goodings on the penultimate lap. Dave Hewson, Jules Croft and Gary Graves rounded out the top ten.
