Movistar Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi likened today’s battle with youngster Marc Marquez to the old days of 500cc Grand Prix racing and said that he is very satisfied to come away with a second place in the opening MotoGP race of the season. Rossi and Marquez went toe-to-toe for the last ten laps of the race, passing each other eight times as they jockeyed for position with the reigning champion victorious by just a quarter of a second. “For sure I am very happy, very satisfied. I suffer too much in the practice and have to start from the fourth row. Anyway, I wasn’t so far from the top guys and I know I have a good pace but wen you start from tenth position you know it is very difficult,” said Rossi, speaking at Qatar. “We improve the bike very much from practice with my team another modify for the race. I risk a bit in the first lap but was so funny, just like the old times ten years ago. I was in the front and I know I have to fight with Marc at the end. When I arrive second I was very satisfied but at the end I try to play my card but Marc was stronger than me but he deserved the victory. “Last year the start of the season was great but later I have more problem. I feel stronger, I ride in a better way and work better with the team.”
