Two bad starts put paid to Gautier Paulin's hopes in the Finnish Grand Prix where he was unable to close the gap with the MX1 class leader, Antonio Cairoli. The French Kawasaki team rider was never fully at his best riding through the deep ruts that formed on the sandy surface on the Scandinavian track and his mediocre starts certainly didn't help. The best he could manage was sixth in the first race and fourth in the second. Paulin, riding as always with his AGV AX-8 Evo helmet, had to settle for sixth position overall and will have to wait until 28 July to relaunch his attack on the championship leader at the German Lausitzring track.

David Philippaerts too had a difficult day and could only manage 13th place in the first race. He was then forced to retire in the second with mechanical problems. The new TM team rider Tanel Leok failed to finish the first race and suffered an early fall in the second round where he came home 17th.

The MX2 rider Ivo Monticelli with his AGV AX-8 Evo helmet and Dainese off-road clothing came home 13th in the first race. He was less fortunate in the second when he was involved in an accident with a number of bikes at the start and had to return to the pits with damage to his bike.
