Ducati MotoGP teamsters Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden have commenced a two-day MotoGP test at Mugello with the aim of improving the feeling The Doctor needs in the front while also trying an electronics package to smooth out the Desmosedici GP12's aggressive power delivery.

Rossi proved that, in the rain, the GP12 is a podium bike all day long but he can't find a way of replicating the feeling he gets through the wet front Bridgestone. And why the bike is easier to ride in terms of rear grip in the rain is something no-one at the factory or in the garage can work out.

Following early rain, the pair were out on track this afternoon for four hours alongside test rider Franco Battaini and it is believed that Troy Bayliss is also in situ. Rossi completed 55 laps while Hayden, usually a lap machine, did 52.
