Valentino Rossi is set for an emotional farewell to Ducati on Sunday night but says he is excited about getting back on the YZR-M1 come the test on Tuesday.

The Doctor will start a two-year deal with his old team when he slings a leg back over the bike he developed and made his own, taking multiple titles on the blue bullet.

“This is the last race with the Ducati. For sure, we arrive at the end of this story between us that unfortunately never gives a good performance or the level we expect," said Rossi, speaking at the pre-event press conference.

"It will be difficult on Sunday especially because after you work for a long part of the year with the people and you have to stop and change teams it will be very emotional. Also, if the result was not fantastic, we had a good time together out of the track. We try the maximum.

“Will be very interesting on Tuesday, especially for me. I try to understand which level I can achieve with the M1 and the which feeling I have after two difficult seasons. I think it will be interesting and I can’t wait for the test. But before we have to stay concentrate and get some points on Sunday."
