After Imola, Nocco stepped once again on the top of the podium in the first of two races in Silverstone. Morbidelli, fourth in Race 1, is the new championship leader.

After confirming the pole position during Q2 and re-writing once again the lap record, Nocco won a hard race against a group of fierce opponents.

After taking the lead with his teammate Morbidelli and trading positions with him and Gamarino, Nocco took the lead back on lap 6 and kept it until the race was red-flagged after a contact between Chesaux and Duwelz that saw the latter crash out without serious injuries.

Nocco thus took his second consecutive win and the best lap during the race (2'11.542).

Morbidelli took fourth place and, due to Duwelz's crash, became the new championship leader with, three points ahead of the Belgian.

Tomorrow at 17.40 italian time the second race will take place.

Alessandro Nocco (San Carlo Team Italia Kawasaki ZX-6R#81) 1°, 13'14"549

"I was fired up but calm as the bike worked well since the first day. Franco made a better start, and I tried not to take many risks. After getting back on top I had to fend off a really competitive Gamarino. It's a shame the red flags were shown, as we could have fought for two more spectacular laps. I want to thank the team, my family and the sponsors for giving me such a great opportunity."

Franco Morbidelli (San Carlo Team Italia Kawasaki ZX-6R#12) 4°, +2"492

"I started strong but struggled almost immediately with the lines and couldn't cut the gap with the three guys ahead of me. It's been a good result for the championship and I'm happy Duwelz was not injured so that we can keep fighting until the end. Now I'll work on the bike to solve a few issues and be faster tomorrow."

Cristiano Migliorati (FMI Technical Coordinator)

"We got a Grand Slam taking pole position, fastest lap, circuit record and a victory. Hats off to Nocco. Morbidelli had some issues and brought home a solid result. The bike is fast and we have to focus on tomorrow's race. We're happy for today's win and glad Duwelz is OK. We hope tomorrow both our riders can fight for the victory.
