The red flag, due to several crashes without consequences during the first lap, nullified the good start by both riders who were respectively in 12th and 16th position after QP.

Morbidelli got off a good start the second time as well, behind the leading group with Duwlez in front. The race, shortened to just 8 laps, turns into a hard fight until the checkered flag and Morbidelli, after a hard move by Gamarino, goes wide and loses precious time, unable to cut the gap. The Italian has to settle for 7th place.

Nocco also put up a fight in the middle group, defending himself fiercely despite his 15 years of age against Casalotti, Marchal and Savadori. He was 12th in the end, after many overtakes.

Franco Morbidelli (Kawasaki ZX-6R #12) 7th 13'54"031

"During the first laps I was close to the leaders and trying to copy their lines to catch up. Once I've done that I was hit by Gamarino and lost some time. I was penalized by my lack of experience on this track and few laps done in dry conditions. I hope to make the most of the engine of my Kawasaki in Monza and pay the team back for all their efforts."

Alessandro Nocco (Kawasaki ZX-6R #81) 12th 14'06"658

"It could have gone better, but after practicing in the wet it wasn't easy to race in the dry. It was my first time in Assen and I made valuable experience for the future. I'm learning each time I go out, which is important. I'll try to do better in Monza."

Cristiano Migliorati (FMI Technical Coordinator)

"It was our first time here with these bikes and riders, and if we consider the difficult weather we can say we had a positive week-end. We accumulated experience, which will turn out to be useful in the future. We have our home race coming up in Monza and we'll be ready to improve our results."

Next UEM European Championship race will be in Monza, may 11

Supersport World Championship

Riccardo Russo will start from 6th row with in 17th position with a 1'40"286. Despite his place on the grid, the Italian is less than two second slower than Lowes, who was fastest today. With a good start, he can aim at running with the front. The race will begin at 13:30 (live on Italia2)
