Ducati's Valentino Rossi has responded to comments made by MotoGP boss Carmelo Ezpeleta about his future by saying his first choice is to remain with Ducati on a competitive bike.

Ezpeleta told the Italian media he believed The Doctor would have a bike on which he could compete for the championship next season - but refusing to say what that package was - and Rossi said at Assen this evening he would like to remain where he is.

"I hope I can race next year with a competitive bike. The first choice is to try and be competitive with Ducati, try to increase and improve the bike and arrive to some good results in the next years with Ducati," said Rossi, speaking to bikesportnews.com.
