Guy Martin's hopes of a win in the Superstock TT yesterday following his Supersport A sixthplace were scuppered when he was first given an 60-second penalty for speeding in the pitlane and then his fuel pump broke at Glen Duff.

The Tyco Suzuki man, who says he has been painting a house somewhere on the Island in order to keep the money coming in, rode scrapped his way to sixth in the first race of the day and then had no luck in the second.

“The 600 job was working okay and the bike was pulling well up top but we lacked a little bit of punch, so we need a few set-up changes for Wednesday," said Martin.

"The boys made changes to the Superstock bike and I could tell the difference by the time I reached the lights at St Ninians – it was bloody brilliant. I didn’t know until I retired that I’d received a pit lane penalty but either way, it inspires confidence for Friday and I’m not too disappointed.”
