Taylor Mackenzie salvaged a top six finish in today’s opening British Supersport race during the Bank Holiday meeting at Oulton Park in Cheshire from row four on the grid.

The 21-year-old had struggled with set-up during qualifying but came through from the fourth row of the grid to kick-start his season after a tough opening round at Brands Hatch Indy a fortnight ago.

The Ashby based rider, who will start from tenth place on row four of the grid in tomorrow’s 16-lap encounter said afterwards: “Yeah I have to be happy with that. I made a good start but got run wide by Rispoli early on and dropped behind him, Luke Hedger and Callan Cooper. “I got my head down and got into a good rhythm in the last few laps, setting my fastest lap on lap ten of twelve. We move up two places on the grid for tomorrow’s second race, so it’s a matter of getting a good start and trying to hang on to the main group.”

Mackenzie’s British Superbike team-mates John Hopkins and Josh Waters will start tomorrow’s opening BSB race from row five in thirteenth and fifteenth respectively.
