Appleyard Macadam Racing supported by Doodson endured a tough weekend at Assen, taking away just one top ten finish in round 10 of the British Supersport Championship.

The weekend started well, however, with Northumbrian Graeme Gowland looking to have the pace to contend for podiums after finishing sixth in the combined free practice sessions. Qualifying didn't run as smoothly, though, with Gowland crashing out with ten minutes remaining, leaving the podium finisher on the fourth row of the grid.

Gowland got off the line well and was battling hard in the leading group of seven, before dropping backwards due to a gearing issue. However, he was able to bring it across the line, salvaging five points in eleventh place.

In race two Gowland got held up in the early laps, being boxed in early on but was enraged in a battle for ninth place. The former Spanish Supersport champion missed out on ninth but got the better of two other riders in the final laps to secure tenth.

Graeme Gowland: "Another difficult weekend. I had a fast crash in qualifying and then I was stuck in fourth gear for the last three laps of the sprint race. I have come away with some points, however, which is important as I want to finish the season in the top five of the championship. Silverstone and Brands Hatch are two of my favourite circuits so hopefully we can finish off the season with some success."
