San Carlo Team Italia FMI's week-end in the Temple of Speeed got off a good start.

Despite heavy rain, the Italian riders took advantage of their knowledge of the track, placing their Kawasaki ZX-6R in the first rows.

Nocco, who was already during the morning free practice session, closed the day with a 2'07"012, four tenths behind the leader Duwlez. Morbidelli, who opted not to take risks during his first outing, climbed back during QP1 and finished in sixth position with a 2'08"004.

Tomorrow's qualifiers will be decisive for the race, which will take place at 6 p.m. (live on Italia 2).

Cristiano Migliorati (FMI Technical Coordinator)

"Finally we had a good day despite the weather. I was sure our riders' potential would show here. Both Nocco and Morbidelli rode hard and well, and the good laptimes prove that. Tomorrow should be a dry day, so we'll modify the setup to stay at the front. We're aiming at the podium."

Supersport World Championship

Riccardo Russo, who won in Monza last year in the Stk600, finished in seventh place, same as during free practice, on Puccetti Racing's Kawasaki with a  2'01"261 (1.6 seconds faster than in FP1). The Italian opens the third row, 1.9 seconds behind provisional poleman Coghlan but only three tenths from first row.
