Mackenzie doubles up on Supersport wins

McAMS Yamaha’s Tarran Mackenzie eased to his second Dickies British Supersport win of the day after earlier getting the better of Gearlink Kawasaki’s Andrew Irwin in race one. Irwin lined up on pole position for the second sprint race of the day but crashed out on a red-flagged opening lap with rain falling. Sadly, the Northern Irishman was unable to make the restart. Mackenzie hit the front from the restart and despite pressure from EHA Racing’s David Allingham early on, he eventually managed to break clear and take the chequered flag 1.8 seconds clear. Alastair Seeley on his Moto2 machine came across the line in second, but he doesn’t qualify for championship points. That meant a second podium of the day went the way of Keith Farmer and the Appleyard Macadam Racing squad. Farmer came through after a tentative start to get the better of Allingham, who clinched the final podium spot, and Gearlink Kawasaki’s Ben Currie. Joe Francis aboard his Halsall Racing Yamaha took fifth place, ahead of Ross Twyman and South African Bjorn Estment. The MV Agusta of Jack Kennedy had a technical problem during this morning’s race but came back out for the encounter, eventually taking eighth.
