Tarran Mackenzie fired a clear warning shot to his rivals in the British Supersport championship at Brands Hatch this weekend with an astonishing hat-trick of wins meaning he’s unbeaten so far in 2017.
After winning a barnstormer of an opening race at Donington Park two weeks’ ago, Mackenzie dominated on the 1.2 mile Indy circuit this weekend and with the cancelled Spring race from Donington held on Donington, it was the hat-trick for the McAMS Yamaha rider who now sits pretty on 100 points in the championship standings, some 40 points ahead of second-placed David Allingham.
Allingham enjoyed a strong weekend, progressing through the races from 5th in race one to third in the second outing and then topping off his weekend with second in Sunday’s feature race.
Ben Currie now sits third in the championship standings after two fourth places and a third, while Keith Farmer is fourth after two podium finishes and an incredible save on his elbow in Sunday’s feature race. Andrew Irwin, who finished second in the opening race on Saturday lost out on points after a crash in mixed conditions in the second sprint race.
Alastair Seeley was once again impressive on the Spirit Moto2 machine, finishing third and second in races two and three, although does not score any points in the series due to the ineligibility of his machine.
